Lead Accessibility Specialist

HealthEdge
$134,000 - $162,000Remote

About The Position

HealthEdge is seeking an Accessibility & Section 508 Compliance Lead to serve as our organization's subject matter expert on digital accessibility. You will set the standard for how accessibility is understood, practiced, and enforced across our engineering, design, and product teams. You are both a strategic leader and a hands-on practitioner. You will own Section 508 compliance and WCAG conformance across the full HealthEdge product suite.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of accessibility testing experience
  • Deep expertise in Section 508 compliance requirements, including experience applying them in B2B SaaS context
  • Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 (AA) guidelines
  • Ability to conduct front-end code reviews (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/React or similar) to identify accessibility barriers — you don't need to be a developer, but you need to speak the language
  • Experience working with accessibility auditing tools (e.g., axe, Deque, NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and interpreting audit reports
  • Experience writing and/or revising compliance documentation including VPATs
  • Experience managing or coordinating remediation efforts across a team
  • Excellent written communication skills — you will produce documentation that developers, designers, and stakeholders rely on

Nice To Haves

  • Background or prior experience in software development
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries in enterprise SaaS contexts
  • Experience in healthcare software or other highly regulated industries
  • Relevant certifications such as CPACC, WAS, DHS Trusted Tester, or CPWA (IAAP)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary internal authority on Section 508 and WCAG standards across the HealthEdge suite of B2B SaaS healthcare products
  • Conduct hands-on accessibility testing and reporting
  • Partner with an external accessibility auditor to collect, interpret, triage, prioritize, and solution identified issues for remediation
  • Establish and maintain a compliance tracking framework across products, ensuring issues are documented with severity levels, owners, and resolution timelines
  • Coordinate and support a team of developers actively remediating accessibility issues across the product suite
  • Create and maintain documentation of best practices for resolving (and preventing) common accessibility issue types
  • Develop scalable educational resources and training to raise accessibility literacy across engineering and product teams
  • Define standards for how new features and components are reviewed for accessibility before release
  • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, QA, and product management to embed accessibility requirements earlier in the development lifecycle
  • Advise on the accessibility implications of design decisions, component implementations, and third-party integrations
  • Support the QA organization in implementing and maintaining automated functional accessibility testing
  • Integrate accessibility scanning into CI/CD pipelines
