About The Position

Land Survey Crew – Instrument Operator Thomas & Hutton is a growing, well-established civil engineering firm providing consulting services throughout the southeast. Some of our many services include Civil, Environmental, Structural and Marine Engineering; Land Surveying; Land Planning; Landscape Architecture; Geographic Information Systems and Construction Administration. Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a Land Surveyor – Instrument Operator to join our Survey Department in Nashville, TN. Survey Crew Members work on crews of two to three people and assist in performing a variety of land surveying activities. Much of the work is physical in nature and includes tasks such as carrying supplies, holding equipment, driving stakes and clearing lines. Crew Members must be able to perform these tasks in a wide range of temperatures and work environments. Valid driver’s license required.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: P r ior experience working in an outdoor environment preferred.
  • This position will require driving. A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Strong work ethic
  • The ability to work a four-day schedule of 630AM - 530PM Monday - Thursday.
  • Strong math skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and work environments.
  • The ability for occasional overnight travel
  • Ability to work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a wide range of temperatures.
  • Ability to climb hills and walk long distances.
  • Ability to traverse different types of terrain.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
  • Ability to interact both verbally and written

Nice To Haves

  • Survey experience preferred; experience with Carlson SurvCE, Robotic total stations and Trimble GPS equipment a plus.
