About The Position

The Caterpillar Lafayette Large Engine Center (LEC) is seeking students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work side by side with manufacturing and supply chain professionals at Caterpillar. Interns are empowered with assignments that provide them with relevant work experience and significant opportunities for learning. This internship program will start in May of 2026 working full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer and then will transition to a part-time (10 to 20 hours per week) assignment during the academic school year. The position may start prior to May 2026 with the agreement of candidate and hiring manager. This position has the opportunity to continue until graduation! As an intern within the LEC internship program, you’ll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees.

  • Must be enrolled full-time at a 4-year university/college in one of the following degree programs: Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Systems Management, Business Administration/Management with a focus/minor in Supply Chain, Statistics, Math or Logistics, Finance, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, General Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Logistics, Management Information Systems, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, Manufacturing Systems, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Technical Systems Management
  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8/4.0 scale (no rounding) at current institution
  • Must have completed 30 semester hours prior to start of internship
  • If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university
  • Graduation date must be May 2026 and beyond
  • Must be able to complete a daily work commute to the Lafayette Large Engine Center using reliable transportation throughout the entirety of the internship
