The Lactation Consultant will provide skilled lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the healthcare facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings. Promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management. Contacts physician offices, patients and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care in the department. Orders breastfeeding/pump supplies for the unit and restocks supplies as needed. Accurately enters information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system. Manages CMQCC data. Does education for nursing staff. Helps facilitate educational classes for patients as well.

Requirements

  • IBCLC required within 6 months of hire.
  • RN license required.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • NRP (AAP) within 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • One to two years previous experience preferred
  • Experience using computers for data management and entry
  • EPIC experience preferred.
