About The Position

Mater Mothers’ Springfield is seeking applications for Lactation Consultant to join us in a permanent, part time (0.5 FTE) role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually. The Lactation Consultant is a Clinical Midwife who has undertaken specific training to become a credentialed lactation nurse consultant through IBCLE. The role involves educating new mothers and their families, regarding best practices in supporting the establishment of breastfeeding. Lactation Consultants also collaborate with other health professionals when the breastfeeding mother is facing challenges establishing breastfeeding, continuing to breastfeed or ceasing their breastfeeding journey, if need be. Mater Mothers' Hospitals are leaders in the provision of high-quality maternity and newborn services for the people of Queensland and northern New South Wales. Providing exceptional care and support of women and their families. Mater Mothers' Hospitals offer integrated services covering obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology and maternal fetal medicine. Requirements

  • Current Midwifery registration and IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) qualification
  • Excellent time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the area of full-term babies and breastfeeding support is desirable
  • Demonstrated interest in the area of neonatology and preterm infants
  • Experience and interest providing education whilst in the role of Lactation Consultant
  • Enthusiastic
  • Able to show initiative
  • Work well in a team
  • Approachable with a mature and confident attitude

Responsibilities
