About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Laborer III performs a variety of duties operating tools and equipment in order to assist with the activities of their department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 3 years of experience
  • Valid GA Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
  • Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • High situational awareness (cars parked on road, sounds, warning lights, environment, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to follow proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to navigate different routes throughout the city.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
  • Read and use technical instructions, procedures, manuals, and charts to solve practical problems.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with others; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and in different situations; shows understanding, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness.

Responsibilities

  • Performs concrete repair, tree trimming, asphalt repair, and traffic light repair.
  • Skill in operation of a jack hammer, concrete saw, chain saw, and hammer drill.
  • Surveys the city to identify and address repairs that may be needed.
  • Completes weekly reports to supervisor of what items were accomplished during the week.
  • Conduct monthly inventory of tools and supplies
  • Complies with all city and departmental policies and procedures
  • Complies with City, State, and Federal safety procedures and protocols in the performance of job duties to include reporting all accidents, incidents, and injuries witnessed or incurred. Ensures equipment and property safety, as well as routine inspection of equipment.
  • Provides support for city special events and city related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned
