General Summary Responsible for participating in and analyzing complex business processes as it relates to the operation of biomedical laboratories. Will participate in the development of workflows, data collection and analysis, troubleshooting, and other technical issues associated with the use of laboratory software systems and supporting hardware. Will participate in developing and documenting the standard build procedures that will be used in conjunction with other enterprise applications. Will help formulate and define objectives of business systems and administer business systems related to laboratory services. Will configure, modify, and implement enterprise business system software and manage software version releases. Responsible for collaborating with ITS staff, management, and business stakeholders as needed to accomplish objectives. Will be assigned to various projects to represent laboratory IT interest to further accomplish business objectives. It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
  • Requires one or more years of laboratory operations experience.
  • Requires one year’s software administration experience.
  • Requires one year’s experience in creating technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Requires experience working with Windows server and desktop operating systems.
  • Must obtain a working knowledge of regulatory/quality requirements and perform within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Must have knowledge of system design and development processes and methodologies such as the SDLC.
  • Must have knowledge of information technology service management concepts and methodologies, business process analysis and reengineering, and project management processes and methodologies.
  • Must possess strong organizational, customer service, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal customers throughout the organization.
  • Must be capable of effectively working with individuals at all position levels in the organization to identify, understand, and communicate their business requirements.
  • Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be a self-starter and self-directed worker.
  • Must be able to keep information confidential.
  • Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.
  • Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to drive on behalf of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Medical Technology, from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Experience administering Laboratory Systems; to include, user interface development, workflow process development, and application integrations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze application technologies to meet business stakeholder needs.
  • Participate in the documentation of requirements, scope, objectives to meet overall business strategies.
  • Identify software application problems by conferring with end users; while evaluating procedures and processes.
  • Make recommendation and act IAW company procedures to resolve software and hardware problems.
  • Make recommendations and act in accordance with company procedures to resolve laboratory software and hardware problems.
  • Perform technical efforts to mock-up solutions as part of solution recommendation efforts.
  • Work closely with Requirements Analysts and Project Management Office on assigned projects.
  • Ensure software operation by providing support and assisting with the training of team members and client personnel.
  • Conduct information technology validations on software applications prior to production release.
  • Act as a liaison between various business units and vendors to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate business requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and business systems.
  • Write instructions on business systems usage and best practices, including Standard Operating Procedures, application administration, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Interact with software, hardware, and/or professional services vendors.
  • Maintain application environments for all laboratory applications to ensure high availability.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the following: Laboratory systems, equipment, instrumentation, and technology Laboratory capabilities and capacity Basic regulatory programs and client specific needs relative to assigned analyse
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May perform duties as designated by management team as needed or in the event of his/her absence.
