With 100+ locations and over 400 OB/GYNs and specialists across the country, Women’s Care provides comprehensive patient care in obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, gynecologic pathology, breast surgery, genetic counseling, maternal fetal medicine, laboratory services, and fertility. The Laboratory Coordinator performs phlebotomy, injections, other lab-related duties, and acts as a back-up for the Medical Assistant. High volume of phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider. Act as liaison with outside laboratories. Packaging of lab specimens to send to outside laboratories. Authorize drug refills as directed. Serve as back up to Medical Assistant when and if needed. Prepare patients for examination and assists physician during treatment/procedures, examinations and testing of patients. Prepare, restock and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures. Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint. Measure, record and document vital signs. Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider, answering questions. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures. Represent office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner. Participate in team activities and professional development activities. Attend required meetings. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, or Medical Assistant Certificate, or Registered Medical Assistant Certificate.
  • Two years Medical Assisting experience.
  • Two years recent phlebotomy experience.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA and sterile technique.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of lab experience with excellent phlebotomy skills.
  • OB/GYN or family practice experience a plus.
  • eCW electronic medical records experience helpful.
