Provides leadership and supervision to a group of designated employees to ensure quality services and competent staff. Demonstrates sufficient level of knowledge and proficiency of skills of all duties and procedures performed by the staff to allow for management of staff. Serves as a role model for staff in understanding and exceeding customer service and quality of care. Handles all complaints/problems in a timely manner with documented follow‐up. Maintains current knowledge in clinical and technical skills, management topics and technology to effectively administer responsibilities. Provides frequent feedback to staff and management based on quality management, regulations, and individual needs. Plans, develops, and implements continuing education/training as appropriate for staff. Ensures on‐going competency of staff; oversee skills evaluation, validation and orientation of staff and students. Supervises human resources to ensure quality services and promote positive employee relations. Collaborate with the director on personnel training, orientation, competency, retention, and disciplinary action of staff. Ensure personnel policies and procedures are utilized to maintain a fair and equitable work environment to achieve goals and objectives of the hospital. Oversee the performance evaluations of staff and assures observations and meetings are completed on time. Maintains effective and appropriate staffing by monitoring overtime and absenteeism. Adjust staffing according to workload. Informs director of staffing problems and disciplinary action. Contributes to and supports the fiscal management of the department to ensure proper utilization of the organization’s financial resources. Participate in evaluation, development and implementation of the department budget for capital, operational equipment and supplies to maintain service, quality and cost effectiveness. Selects appropriate equipment and is responsible for maintaining all equipment in optimal working conditions. Effectively utilizes resources within established budget and notifies director of all variances anticipated, or accrued, to maintain department services.
