General Information: The Laboratory Assistant supports the Academic Director (AD) during the 2-week Biotechnology for Science & Health Academy. Successful Laboratory Assistants are flexible, can pivot quickly to accommodate unexpected changes and issues, and are leaders who stay both warm and focused under pressure. This is a laboratory and academic support position.

Requirements

• Some graduate-level medical or science education.
• Experience working in a lab.

• Institutional knowledge of Georgetown University.

Responsibilities

• Completing training and learning about the program to understand how to best support the student experience.
• Meeting with Lab Directors and Lab Faculty prior to programs to review lab activities.
• Maintaining a well-stocked lab environment.
• Creating a safe and supportive academic environment for students.
• Building community and belonging amongst the students and staff.
• Establishing appropriate boundaries with students in compliance with the University's Protection of Minors Policy.
• Reporting unsafe, inappropriate, or concerning behavior, and student conduct issues.
• Enforcing University policies, procedures, and regulations to students.
• Other duties as assigned.
