SUMMARY This position provides analytical support to the Plaquemine Operating Units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Science strongly preferred, with a minimum of 12 hours in chemistry course work (applicable experience can be substituted for chemistry course work)
  • Minimum of two years previous laboratory experience required
  • Basic laboratory skills such as quantitative and qualitative testing, ability to interpret results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with the ability to escalate problems
  • This position also requires a high degree of organizational skills to be able to meet deadlines.
  • This position requires the ability to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule; nights, days and holidays, and occasional overtime

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gas chromatography a plus
  • Experience with LIMS, SAP, ISO 9001, and other statistical software desired

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
  • Participates in the PACE culture of safety.
  • Writes permits and work orders in accordance with company environmental, health and safety and operational procedures.
  • Reports injuries, incidents and hazards to unit supervision as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Conducts tasks and operational duties with appropriate PPE as assigned.
  • Reviews JHA for appropriate PPE needed for routine and non-routine duties.
  • Actively participates in unit safety training and monthly safety modules.
  • Analyze raw material, products, intermediate and by-products of the Operating Unit using Laboratory standard operating procedures to ensure product quality.
  • Perform assigned duties needed to keep the lab functioning efficiently.
  • Report and review all results of analyses before they are sent to the Operating Unit.
  • Comply with Laboratory Safety Policy and site HSP’s.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance of instrumentation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of instrumentation.
  • Be an active member of the Emergency Response Group.
  • Perform all duties in a Safe and Environmental sound manner.
  • Carry out other activities/tasks as needed by management.
  • Assist with laboratory housekeeping and 5S to maintain clean working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
