About The Position

The purpose of the Day Supervisor position is to be directly in charge of the unit process operators and ensuring the operators are up to date on the company's policies and process knowledge within the unit. The Day Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring the unit operates in a safe manner while complying with environmental protocols, stipulations, and regulations. While still meeting production goals and maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Chemical/Petrochemical Operations as a Chemical Operator (PVC experience preferred)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem solving, organization and communication skills
  • Decision making and the ability to make quick analytical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Thorough knowledge of supervisory practices, production equipment, quality control standards, and operating procedures.
  • Use of hand tools, gauges, indicators, operation of DCS and sample testing equipment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good understanding of P&ID’s and SOP’s
  • Good understanding of the J5 system
  • Good understanding of the 14 elements of PSM
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of direct job-related experience required; with a process chemical operator course preferred.
  • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
  • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and Lead: Assign the operators to their areas of responsibility weekly and monitor daily by reviewing the log sheets and checklists. Handle any conflicts, whether operational or personal, that develop. Be clear and precise in communications with operators and obtain feedback to ensure he/she understands the communication.
  • Operations: Assess the unit operations by reviewing the log sheets, logbook notes, PI trends, and DCS readings. Manage, solve, and /or recommend resolving discrepancies, deviations, and abnormalities by staying up to date and alert on the operational processes within the unit. Direct the proper operational steps during nights and weekends if a situation arises.
  • Facilitate the Fulfillment of Work Orders: Gather and collect the daily/weekly/monthly checklists and review for abnormalities. Flag abnormalities and relay them to the Operation Staff personnel (Day Supervisors / Managers) in the unit logbook. Attend the daily Monday-Friday Daily Operations meetings with the Maintenance group to go over the daily Maintenance items.
  • Staff Development: Evaluate the contract operators from the Process Operator Program. Develop each individual’s talents to the fullest, creating an environment that supports collaboration, cross-functional team, and information sharing.
  • Cost Control: Assist department Manager and engineers with budget controls, and control spending within unit budgets
  • THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
