Why Join Us | DuPont Careers DuPont is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to work at the Yerkes Plant, located in Buffalo, New York. Yerkes Buffalo is the North American manufacturing home of Corian® solid surface products, introduced in 1968 and the founding manufacturing location for Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) films, introduced in 1961. As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for the sampling and analyzing of essential materials for physical and chemical properties as well as conformance to other required specifications. This position works a rotating shift schedule, including holidays and weekends, and includes scheduled overtime, sometimes on short notice.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Chemical Process Technology OR successful completion of college level courses in each of the following (must provide a copy of transcript with application): General Chemistry (6 hrs.) + labs; College Mathematics (3 hrs.)
  • Three or more of the following courses with the corresponding labs: Analytic Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physics, Engineering courses, Instrumentation, or Applied Science
  • Willing and able to wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment)
  • Must be able to perform all duties with or without accommodation.
  • Must be legally able to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship/support or relocation assistance is available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related field
  • Data interpretation and statistical experience

Responsibilities

  • Sample and test materials for chemical and physical properties, including the production of experimental products with specific characteristics, such as color, gloss, opacity, flammability, or light absorption
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment such as thermometers, hydrometers, chromatographs viscometers, differential calorimeters, introns, extruders, etc.
  • Test new methods, equipment, or procedures and make recommendations based on observations, analyses, and evaluation of test data
  • Perform air/fume test for both safety and environmental control
  • Upon completion of required training, conduct routine material manipulations including saw cutting, sanding, and milling operations
