About The Position

This is a perfect position for an experienced labor attorney seeking a better work-life balance. The part-time Labor Relations Counsel will be responsible for overseeing and leading the development, implementation, and management of all labor relations strategies, policies, and activities. This individual will play a key role in fostering positive relationships with labor unions, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and mitigating risks associated with labor disputes. The part-time Labor Relations Counsel will collaborate with senior management, the employment law team, and HR to drive organizational performance, stability, and compliance across all business units.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one major Audacy market.
  • 7+ years of legal experience with a primary emphasis on labor relations.
  • Knowledge of the statutory framework of the NLRA, as well as state, and local labor laws and NLRB practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong legal advocate while maintaining a balanced, positive approach to labor management issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trust and rapport with union representatives and corporate management at all levels.
  • Regular schedule, based on Company’s needs, expected to be roughly 20 hours per week.
  • Travel may be required to other Audacy locations or external sites.
  • May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior management-side experience with SAG-AFTRA, WGA, and/or other entertainment-related unions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Advisory & Compliance: Provide expert, day-to-day legal advice and evaluation on labor relations matters, union disciplinary issues, contract interpretations, and policy formation to Audacy senior staff and managers. Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable labor laws. Manage the administration and interpretation of labor agreements for assigned work groups.
  • Collective Bargaining & Negotiation: Lead and participate in collective bargaining negotiations for new and existing labor contracts, ensuring compliance with cost guidelines and patterns set by executive management. Assist in developing and implementing collective bargaining strategies.
  • Strategy & Relationship Management: Contribute to the development, implementation, and management of labor relations strategies and policies. Maintain effective working relationships and open channels of communication with labor organizations and union representatives to foster positive relationships and business continuity.
  • Grievance & Dispute Management: Oversee, manage, and resolve labor grievances and disputes promptly and effectively, including providing support for grievance handling up to and including arbitration. Address and resolve issues to mitigate the need for litigation and manage disputes between union representatives and management.
  • Legal Advocacy & Litigation: Serve as Audacy’s legal advocate in adversarial proceedings, including contract grievances, disciplinary cases, arbitrations, mediations, ULPs and other administrative proceedings. This includes formulating strategy, preparing witnesses and evidence, researching legal issues, drafting legal briefs, and presenting oral arguments to arbitrators, mediators, and administrative law judges.
