In keeping with Dignity Health core values, the Labor & Delivery Scrub Technician functions as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative phases of obstetrical surgical procedures and vaginal deliveries. They actively participates as a member of the Labor & Delivery Patient Care Team. Demonstrates intermediate or advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures (as described in the unit skills checklists). Measurement: Observation, Feedback. Demonstrates basic patient care skills, including, but not limited to hygiene, takes vital signs, weights, accurately measures I&O, documents appropriately on designated forms and in computer; lifts, moves and transports patients safely and positions infants using developmentally supportive knowledge. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Patient Care Documentation. Consistently demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique according to policy and procedure guidelines. Measurement: Observation, Feedback. Collects and delivers urine, stool and pathology specimens according to current procedures, utilizing universal precautions. Measurement: Observation, Feedback. Consistently demonstrates proper care and handling of instruments and equipment. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Equipment condition. Consistently stocks and maintains department supplies. Measurement: Observation, Inventory.
