About The Position

The Surgical Technician - GB, under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Nurse Manager, performs essential duties to assist the medical staff with the performance of major and/or minor procedures within the operative setting. Requirements

• High School Graduate
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Aide / Assistant (CNA) - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (KS), Department of Health & Senior Services (MO) - Includes licenses for all other states

Responsibilities

• Following department standards maintains asepsis, positioning, prepping and draping, needle and instrument count, specimen care and dressing application.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for sterilization; cleans and decontaminates instruments; assists in cleaning/preparing OR suite for next case.
• Provides appropriate instrumentation to surgeon.
• Provides psychological and physical comfort measures to patient and identifies changes in condition and reports to RN/Charge Nurse.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
