About The Position

-Create labels, from data collection to kitting, for all units, certain Intel BMC jobs, and requests from Individuals and Departments -Regulations on what needs to be labeled, the information on those labels, and different specifications of the labels is found in the UL508A book, standards we have made, the Submittal, and the Electrical Drawings. -The UL508a is the regulating body that our company uses.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to keep track and understand schedule/kitting email notifications as to know when to start the Label process for a specific unit. Ability to prioritize jobs and complete all duties with no supervision.
  • Ability to understand Submittals, data sheets, P&ID’s, and the Electrical Drawings. Less at times, to understand Piping Drawings as it pertains to tagging.
  • Be able to distinguish the pertinent information regarding labeling in the above documents. This information is determined from our standards, UL508a regulations, and a basic understanding of what we do and do not tag.
  • Ability to complete data collection/note taking in an Excel Sheet Template indicating this pertinent information. Included in this Template is an Excel Template for a Label Checklist. Complete this Checklist of all the Labels that will be needed for the unit in question. Include any Caution and Warning Labels that are required by UL508a.
  • Be able to design in CorelDRAW. Design those labels that we make standardized, but also those that are unique to each unit. This will include, but not limited to, the Manufacture label. Some units have specific labels for equipment or devices that must be made. Also, the Submittal will mention specific labels to be made.
  • Be able to design labels in Microsoft Word that are used in our Vinyl printer. The UL Data Label is such a label that will be designed in Word if there is one for the unit. To determine this, use the UL508a book for the rules on when to make this. This will then be printed on Vinyl on the Vinyl printer.
  • Ability to run a Trotec 360 Laser Engraver and its software. Also includes maintenance and cleaning of this machine.
  • There is also a Vision Rotary Engraver that is used as a backup or for requests to remake older labels. Must be able to design in Vision software and run this machine. Also, maintenance and cleaning of this machine.
  • Each label coming off the Engravers must be cleaned of its residue.
  • Kit each units labels according to the Checklist and complete by specified date on Production Schedule.
  • Maintain stock of standard labels in Label Cabinet when quantities get low by printing and cleaning. Also, keep track of Pipefitter stock Vinyl labels and print as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines and work area.
  • Keep track of all Materials. Know how and when to order more of each type of Material: plastics, acrylic, vinyl, ink, etc. Includes knowing part numbers and vendors of each. Also, the process of requesting from purchasing.
  • Be able to efficiently communicate and work with other departments, including Electrical Engineering, SAE’s, and Assembly.
  • Make remakes, sometimes on the spot, when requests come in from Service, SAE’s, or elsewhere.
  • Design and print all kinds of different facets of labels requested by different individuals and departments.
  • Be able to teach oneself how to use the Laser Engraver for different materials as they arise. Communication with Trotec as a Vendor for Service of machine if needed. Also, communication with the Sales Rep as needed.
  • Be able to teach oneself how to do different designs in CorelDRAW as they arise. Ability to research videos on how to.
  • Keep track of any possible changes that arise from other departments to the units after you have completed the kit and make necessary adjustments to the labels.
  • Be able to assist the QC team as needed for placement of labels or clarification.
  • Make and maintain standards of labels. Changing labels if these standards should change or if go against regulations set by UL508a.
  • Maintain Files of Standard Labels
  • Maintain Files for Job related Labels
  • Work with Electrical Assembly and QC to create Label Placement Standards
  • Ability to identify and adhere to customer specific label requirements
