About The Position

Forage Lab Technicians are responsible for preparing samples for testing and operating testing equipment to analyze samples. Lab Technicians are assigned to work in the Fibers lab areas and are expected to follow established testing and safety protocols. Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of prior work experience following specific protocols/instructions.

Responsibilities

• The weighing samples, places in appropriate analysis vessel (e.g., tube, flask, foil, bag, crucible, boat, beaker), and adds chemical solutions.
• Operates testing equipment. Tests samples for nutrient composition. Enters sample numbers in computer, weighs, creates computer files, manually records data and prints test results. Connects to network, uploads test results, and runs diagnostic programs.
• Measures, weights, and mixes chemical solutions in accordance with prescribed formulas.
• Performs minor maintenance and repair work on equipment.
