About The Position

This position at Cleveland Clinic’s Fairview Hospital involves working in a leading-edge laboratory environment. The Lab Technician II will utilize sophisticated laboratory equipment to identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, perform blood matching for transfusions, analyze chemical content of body fluids, and test for drug levels in the blood. This role is crucial for providing physicians with essential information for patient diagnosis and treatment. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of lab experience

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree (preferably in Science) (or equivalent credit hours) will substitute for up to one year of experience

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
• Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
• Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.
• Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.
• Maintain patient, specimen and track data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.
• Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
• Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
