Job Summary Under general supervision to be responsible for chemical analyses, operating reports and records at an electric generating station. Maintains water treatment and laboratory equipment and facilities. This position will be required to go through a 1-year apprenticeship. This temporary role is expected to last until the plant transitions from coal to gas operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of the Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship and pass the final position qualification examination
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess skills in basic mathematics, electricity and chemistry at the high school level
  • Interest and aptitude for analytical work
  • Knowledge of plant water systems
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tests and analyses relating to the maintenance and operation of an electric generating station.
  • Assists in preparing reports; maintains records.
  • Performs tests and analyses as required by environmental regulations.
  • Assists in preparing reports; maintains records.
  • Maintains laboratory facilities and supplies.
  • Orders chemicals.
  • Maintains and repairs laboratory instrumentation, testing, and analyzing equipment.
  • Calibrates and maintains sample system and demineralizer system equipment.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
