About The Position

As a Power Plant Assistant, you'll perform various tasks around the plant, including work in the turbine, pump room, and boiler. This temporary role is expected to last until the plant transitions from coal to gas operations. You'll work a 12-hour rotating schedule, with day shifts from 6:00am to 6:00pm and night shifts from 6:00pm to 6:00am. Relief hours may be required for vacation coverage, vacancies, and service needs. The schedule is subject to change based on plant requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• 2 years’ experience and/or equivalent in an electric generating facility, steam generating station.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• General knowledge of mathematics and science at the high school level
• Ability to work with others.
• Mechanical ability.
• Knowledge of fuel-handling or heavy equipment and the layout of operation of a generating station.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Routine cleaning and janitorial work.
• Provides stores support.
• Performs unskilled and semi-skilled physical work required in the various operations of any department of the power plant.
• Performs maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds as assigned.
• Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to the position.
• Train for Equipment Operator - Operations position.
