About The Position

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time: All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority. This position has heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities. Perform routine microbiological, chemical, and physical analysis on raw ingredients, in-process samples, and finished product samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and customer requirements, using lab instruments, proper laboratory techniques and following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Communicate out-of-specification product results to QA Manager. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure proper calibration and functionality. Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and equipment as required for analysis. Maintain and organize accurate laboratory records, test results, and documentation. Maintain an organized and clean laboratory environment, ensuring proper handling and disposal of materials. Access inventory of laboratory supplies and materials, communicating to QA manager when supplies are needed. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and management, to ensure consistent product quality. Adhere to all Quality, Food Safety, GMP, and AMPI Safety Polices & Procedures, reporting any nonconformity. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
