About The Position

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Location: Waltham, MA, with a future relocation to Cambridge, MA, in 2026. The Lab Resource Coordinator is a key member of the laboratory operations team, providing essential support to scientific research groups. This role serves as a critical liaison between scientists and laboratory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient lab operations while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years in customer service, inventory replenishment, or material handling
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting highly desired. Undergraduate lab work will be considered
  • Requires laboratory knowledge, including the use of various instruments to prepare for and perform tests.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using computers
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, Power BI, and other inventory management systems
  • Must be flexible, forward-thinking, motivated, and can act independently.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • High level of customer service skills with a professional, can-do demeanor.
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams preferred
  • Previous experience in a GMP-regulated facility strongly desired

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for scientific groups, addressing their day-to-day lab operational needs and inquiries.
  • Ensure adherence to all lab operations protocols and initiatives by science groups.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory of common lab supplies and equipment. Coordinate with Avantor services teams (consumables, media/buffer, solvents, etc.) to meet lab needs. Catalog and maintain certain common stock items to minimize storage needs. Assists the team as needed with POU checks and runs
  • Organize and maintain cold storage space (deli fridges, -80C freezers, cryo units) for samples.
  • Coordinate with Lab Instrument Services (LIST) for equipment tagging, calibration, and maintenance. Submit and track maintenance requests for lab equipment.
  • Assist with the upkeep of common lab areas (consumable racks, western blot equipment, cold room, TC rooms, equipment rooms). Submit work orders for lab issues and follow up on progress.
  • Act as a safety committee representative, participating in safety walkthroughs and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Assist with safety training for new hires.
  • Cross-trains with other LRCs to act as backup for call-outs and PTO Cross-trains with teams to help the teams during demanding times Coordinates with the LRC team lead to assist the team where needed Provide training to the new hires on general lab procedures and equipment. Assist with the lab coat program, including ordering, stocking, and communicating with vendors.
  • Attend department meetings and effectively communicate information to the science groups, lab operations, and other relevant teams.
  • Contribute to lab decluttering efforts and space utilization improvements.
  • Perform basic lab work as directed by science team leads, within the scope of work and contract agreements. Provide daily routine equipment assistance (e.g., checking solvent/buffer levels, calibration, instrument startup, waste handling).
