About The Position

Legend Biotech is seeking a Lab Manager as part of the R& D team based in Philadelphia, PA . Role Overview Legend Biotech is seeking an experienced lab manager for its new state-of-the-art R&D laboratory in Philadelphia, PA. The new lab in Philadelphia will provide critical research of Legend pipeline development from early discovery to IND submission related in vivo and in vitro studies. The ideal candidate should have 8+ years of experience supporting R&D lab operation, logistics, procurement and facilities. Hands-on instrument and reagent inventory management experience is required. Previous experience in the setting of cell therapy research and development is a plus. This role will interact with stakeholders mainly at the Philly site and other R&D sites in NJ. This role will help with budget planning, drive lab operation efficiency and establish the future of laboratory operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years of experience managing R&D lab operation in industry or academic setting with more than 30 scientists.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with multiple key stakeholders.
  • Working experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent record keeping skills.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and great project management skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to be accountable when facing the challenges of this new, dynamic and evolving operation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the setting of cell therapy research and development is a plus.
  • Working experience with LIMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for lab operations to support uninterrupted R&D activities on site.
  • Oversee lab set-up, space planning and general cleanliness of the lab.
  • Initiate and act as SME for instrument and LIMS installation and qualification.
  • Set up and own service contracts with manufacturers for analytical equipment.
  • Partner with Warehouse and Logistics for consumable and material ordering, storage and distribution.
  • Actively manage and escort external vendors..
  • Facilitate cold storage management.
  • Serve as a bridge to interact with procurement, finance, IT, Engineering & facilities, Warehouse & Logistics and other functions.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures from other departments where the lab and lab activities are in scope.
  • Create and oversee equipment cleaning program.
  • Partner with Facilities to coordinate timing and lab impacts for maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Coordinate interactions with other R&D sites.
  • Usage and budget planning on lab consumables & Materials.
  • Create response plan for alarms where there is the potential for material impact.
