About The Position

The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all kitchen equipment and machinery in a hotel or restaurant setting. This role ensures the smooth operation of all kitchen appliances and systems, providing a safe and functional environment for kitchen staff. Requirements

  • Previous maintenance experience required; hotel experience and training preferred.
  • 2 years minimum of hotel and/or commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
  • 1 year of commercial kitchen experience preferred; commercial refrigeration experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience responding to emergency situations is required.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, computer proficiency, and a focus on guest satisfaction are essential.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to crawl for short distances.
  • Ability to bend, reach overhead, squat, and kneel for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use step stools and ladders.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, low voltage controls, plumbing, and gas systems.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting schematics.
  • Must have flexible availability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment.
  • Operate and maintain low-pressure boilers for the hot water system.
  • Operate and maintain additional vessels as needed for hot water, kitchen steam, and air conditioning systems.
  • Assist mechanics and external contractors with the repair of hotel property and equipment.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC systems and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the swimming pool and related pool equipment.
  • Complete all assigned work orders and daily tasks promptly.
  • Receive instructions for house calls via radio.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Omni’s fire alarm procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Omni hotel rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
