About The Position

Diagnose and provide service and repairs to hotel, club and spa kitchen and dishwashing equipment and respond to calls and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all aspects of the Engineering Department Standards and Policies.

Requirements

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least 5 to 7 years of field experience maintaining Commercial Kitchen Equipment.
  • This position requires extended hours in an outdoor environment. Employees are responsible to take appropriate safety precautions to protect themselves from the elements.
  • Must exhibit self-control and patience to ensure a positive and efficient workspace.
  • Hours required: Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs.
  • Must have EPA refrigerant handling certification.
  • Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift: Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures. Summer temperatures outside can get above 95 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 months of year. For 2 months of year, low temperatures can get below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Must be able to swim. Temperatures in kitchens, mechanical rooms and some other work spaces may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Driving Ability: Occasional driving is required. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and maintain a good driving record in compliance with company policy. Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle equipped with a lift gate and/or a standard transmission.
  • Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, data plates, equipment serial numbers, and work orders. Must be able to work with computers, read gauges and charts, and perform maintenance work using flashlights and under varied lighting conditions. Must be capable of effectively performing cosmetic and decorative work in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
  • Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance of equipment and accurately document all work performed.
  • Diagnose and perform repairs of assigned equipment including (but not limited to) cooking equipment, burners, warmers, ovens, fryers, dishwashing machines, water heaters, sinks, plumbing fixtures, and associated equipment throughout the entire campus.
  • Comply with all Houstonian Hotel Club and Spa / Engineering Department policies and procedures.
  • Assist other Engineering Department staff with repairs as required.
  • Respond as required to all emergency conditions such as evacuation, fire, power failure, flood, hurricane, etc.
  • Clean all shops and Engineering Mechanical areas, order and maintain proper inventory levels of parts and supplies to ensure a well organized department and Campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.
