About The Position

Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Coordinator, the Kids Gym staff member provides a quality experience for children and parents that provides a safe and fun environment while modeling the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Currently looking for people available for morning hours primarily

Requirements

Must be at least 14 years of age.
The ideal candidate should have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.
Certifications: CPR/First Aid, within 60 days of hire
Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
Work in different temperature environments.

Responsibilities

Positively reinforce good behavior in the children. Limit discipline to redirection and calm conversations. Avoid group punishments and loud confrontations.
Supervise the activity areas and children at all times. Engage in activities in group activities while supervising others as needed. Avoid distractions such as personal conversations, cell phones, or other items that would take your focus away from the children.
Provide a welcoming and friendly greeting to all participants. Treat all children with dignity and respect. Greet parents and children by name.
Always have eye contact with children and adults. Strive to build positive relations with all staff and participants.
Properly check in and out the children, complete all required forms correctly, and fill out incident reports when necessary.
Responsible for opening/set up and/or closing/tear down duties as scheduled. Help with general housekeeping tasks related to assigned area(s).
Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and always demonstrating professional conduct.
Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
