Kidney Smart Educators perform an important role in giving CKD participants the gift of education. As part of that, there are requirements for the position to ensure that all Educators have an adequate background as well as a passion for kidney disease education. This job description provides an overview of the Educator position, which includes Kidney Smart Class Educators and Modality Educators. Background: Kidney Smart is a patient education program covering CKD education at no-cost to help empower patients to make more informed choices – no matter where a patient may eventually start dialysis and regardless of their provider, payor or employment status Role Description: Kidney Smart Educators should be friendly, warm, and welcoming in nature with a passion for CKD education. Kidney Smart Educators are ambassadors who promote the program when opportunities arise. Kidney Smart Educators must be clinically licensed or certified healthcare professionals and DaVita teammates, In order to become a KS educator, teammates must present proof of certification or clinical licensure upon onboarding as a KS educator. This can be confirmed by presentation of a hard copy upon onboarding or through verbal confirmation from direct manager who hired teammate. Note: Any Kidney Smart Educator that was not licensed or certified prior to May 18, 2016 may remain a certified Kidney Smart Educator.
