About The Position

This position is part of an integrated management team and oversees reentry and facility-based services, community-based programming, victim service work, and volunteers. The position will oversee service delivery throughout Chittenden County and work in close partnership with county town and city managers, police departments, the VT DOC, and community members. This position is primarily based out of the CJC Headquarters, but flexibility and travel throughout the county will be required. This role is essential for fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes restorative practices, timely communication, and supportive supervision. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and a team player, dedicated to building strong relationships and enhancing the performance of our team.

Requirements

Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in managerial and supervisor role, or six years of program management experience, with focus on restorative justice, community development or related field required.
Experience with the criminal legal system, either corrections, court, law enforcement or combination preferred.
Experience recruiting, screening, training and managing volunteers/interns.
Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of restorative practices, with an ability to understand and demonstrate knowledge of community impact of crime and victim issues.
Demonstrated strong organizational, coordination, and group leadership skills.
Ability to develop strong relationships with a wide range of individuals and groups, who may have conflicting interests and opinions.
Ability to create and maintain an environment that embraces the operating principles of Restorative Justice.
Exceptional communications skills, including public speaking, meeting facilitation, and training facilitation.
Ability to work in a team environment, while also working independently necessary.
Demonstrated ability to inspire community participation and build coalitions required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
Some evening availability required.
Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules and personnel policies.

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the development and delivery of: the Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) program, reentry service navigation and Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility restorative programming, including but not limited to: supervising the two staff who work within this program area, acting as the primary liaison with the VT DOC grant managers, overseeing the supervision of volunteers connected to reentry programming and ensuring timely and accurate data entry and report submission.
the Conflict Assistance Program (CAP) including but not limited to: supervision of the CAP coordinator, oversight of the CAP quarterly reports to the USDOJ, assistance with the marketing and promotion of the program, developing and maintaining relationships with community partners and ensuring the timely and accurate internal data tracking for BCJC reporting purposes.
Act as lead for the agency's Victim Services Team, coordinating monthly meeting of Victim Services Specialists, Youth and Adult Program Coordinators and Management Team, to boost professional development of staff, discuss difficult cases, and otherwise center victim service needs.
Provide collaboration and leadership in the development of programming around restorative justice, intimate partner and sexual violence work
In partnership with the Data, Communications and Operations Specialist, monitor the overall effectiveness and impact of services in the context of both existing and developed participant outcomes
Work to develop a participant-centered approach in the delivery of services, with a strong focus on equity, access and inclusion.
Collect and analyze participant information to identify areas for improvement within all supervised programs
Ensure that programs are regularly reviewed and evaluated to meet prescribed goals and objectives
Offer ongoing supervision, guidance, support, and feedback to staff in a manner that empowers them to achieve their best work. Conduct regular 360 performance evaluations promoting the professional and personal development of supervisees.
In partnership with fellow managers, the Data, Communication and Operations Specialist, and Program Coordinators: recruit, screen, train and support volunteers and paid Cultural Advocates from diverse backgrounds and across municipalities to represent the communities we serve.
collect volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintain an up-to-date database.
keep new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities.
match volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensure they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
Coordinate with program coordinators to develop and offer professional development opportunities related to trauma, equity, inclusion, racism and other topics that intersect with the populations we serve.
Keep schedules and records of volunteers' work.
Prepare Codes of Conduct and operating procedures to uphold the organization's values.
Solicit feedback from and deliver feedback to volunteers on a regular basis
Release volunteers from service as is necessary
When needed, train and supervise interns who assist in aspects of programming
Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to include, but not limited to: DOC's Community and Restorative Justice Unit and Probation and Parole, US DOJ, the VT Center for Crime Victim Services and Chittenden County Town Managers and Police Department Chiefs.
Serve as a community spokesperson for CJC programming, working to sustain a positive attitude and image in the local community and state-wide.
Assure accuracy and up-to-date information in all program-specific public relations materials in print and via Burlington Community Justice Center (BCJC) website and social media channels.
Collaborate with the Strategy team to define CJC goals, foster a culture of teamwork, inclusivity, and shared responsibility.
Model and promote a restorative culture within the team, ensuring that all members understand their importance in building a positive work environment. Facilitate conflict resolution and support personal and professional growth among team members.
Maintain transparent and timely communication with internal and external partners and colleagues. Provide regular updates on projects, initiatives, and feedback to ensure clarity and encourage engagement.
Commit to fostering an equitable and inclusive organization by engaging in active self-reflection and awareness of personal identities, promoting sensitivity and advocacy against all forms of oppression in interactions with staff, volunteers, and participants. Participate in ongoing discussion groups to further explore and address issues of systemic injustice and bias within our work.
