The Community Justice Program Coordinator (CJPC) will coordinate and deliver services for Ketchikan Indian Community (KIC) programs working with domestic violence-involved offenders while collaborating with allied professionals within a victim services framework to support families impacted by violence. This role involves coordinating day-to-day activities of the KIC Batterers Intervention Program (BIP), assisting with grants, and supporting efforts to build partnerships with neighboring tribes and allied professionals to extend services to communities in Metlakatla and Prince of Wales Island. The Coordinator will co-facilitate gender-specific groups, develop individualized service plans, and ensure robust communication with referring organizations. Additional responsibilities include participating in a court watch program, supervising court-ordered visitation and exchanges of children, participating in the multidisciplinary teams, and engaging in ongoing training.

  • Support the effective operation of the KIC Batterers Intervention Program (BIP).
  • Facilitate weekly gender-specific groups for court-referred, child welfare-referred, and self-referred individuals using evidence-based and culturally responsive curricula.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and screenings for offenders.
  • Develop individualized service plans for each participant, aligned with restorative practices and principles.
  • Document all services, including progress reports, safety checks, group attendance, and participant progress, in a confidential database, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist in expanding the capacity of the program to serve female domestic violence offenders, addressing the different power dynamics that exist.
  • Ensure effective communication with referring organizations, such as probation, court, and the Office of Children’s Services (OCS).
  • Support outreach efforts and participate in initial conversations with neighboring tribes and allied professionals about BIP services. Travel to rural communities will occur intermittently for setup, mentoring, and training, pending CDVSA's approval for expansion increasing the capacity of the Family Justice Center to serve communities in Metlakatla and Prince of Wales Island.
  • Assist with coordination of KIC-led programs in POW and Metlakatla, under the direction of the supervisor, and will report progress and activities as requested. New program ideas will be discussed by the Director and Family Justice Center Manager and presented at the committee and council level before implementation.
  • Collaborate with the KIC Re-envision Program and other community-based re-entry programs to support participants transitioning from incarceration, treatment, and other related services, ensuring alignment with their service plans.
  • Participate in the court watch program alongside allied professionals, ensuring that victims have access to necessary services and that offenders are referred to appropriate interventions.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly Multi-Disciplinary-Team meetings to align efforts with local and regional initiatives.
  • Provide targeted, specific training for allied professionals to build community capacity in addressing domestic violence.
  • Coordinate community restoration activities for program participants.
  • Partner with the KIC Indian Child Welfare Program and OCS to provide safe, supervised, court-ordered visitations and safe exchanges of children.
  • Participate in required training per program and Department of Corrections regulations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective liaison with referring organizations and stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, intervention strategies, and power dynamics specific to gender.
  • Competence in conducting risk assessments and understanding legal processes related to domestic violence.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized service plans aligned with restorative practices
  • Expertise in facilitating group sessions, particularly with sensitive or high-risk populations, using evidence-based and culturally responsive curricula.
  • Skilled in confidential data management and documentation, ensuring compliance with privacy standards.
  • Strong program coordination skills, including familiarity with grant administration, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Ability to develop and manage community-based initiatives, such as the court watch program, to enhance victim support and offender accountability.
  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including tribal organizations, courts, and social service agencies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in required training and staying current with best practices in domestic violence intervention.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in victim services, probation, law enforcement, or social work, with demonstrated experience in program coordination or administrative support roles.
  • A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may substitute for education and experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
  • Proof of valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field.
  • Certification in domestic violence intervention, counseling, or Batterers Intervention Program facilitation.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with justice system in community settings.
  • Minimum of 5 years prior work with the Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault or similar organizations.
