The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining IT infrastructure by installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software components of computer and network systems to ensure optimal performance and user accessibility. Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and executing necessary adjustments or repairs to prevent or resolve system failures. Managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights, ensuring secure and efficient operation of all systems and data. Implementing and testing network security measures to protect systems and information from unauthorized access or cyber threats. Performing regular backup operations and implementing appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures along with routine testing. Documenting system configurations, changes, and procedures to maintain an accurate record of the technology environment and assist in compliance with IT policies.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience with, DHCP, DNS, Exchange, TCP/IP, Active Directory, MS Server OS’s and Microsoft 365

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in computer-related field is preferred; appropriate experience may be substituted.
  • 3 years of experience in Tier 1-2 technical support or equivalent role responding directly to customer requests is preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with Type 1 Hypervisors, such as Hyper-V, VMWare or KVM, Microsoft 365, HPE Equipment, SAN, Terminal Servers, VOIP
  • CompTIA Certifications are a plus; Microsoft certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage user accounts across organizational systems in accordance with JV’s approval protocols; perform account unlocks, password resets, and access adjustments as needed.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting, technical assistance, and support for incoming requests related to computer systems, software, hardware, and network issues. Use diagnostic techniques to gather detailed information and document clear problem summaries for escalation when appropriate.
  • Assist in developing training materials and delivering user training. Communicate technical information in clear, accessible language and guide users through troubleshooting steps using structured questioning.
  • Install, configure, modify, and repair computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment as assigned. Support the team in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking equipment assignments.
  • Apply operating system patches, updates, and upgrades on a routine schedule. Support the configuration of new services and the maintenance of administrative tools and utilities.
  • Participate in reviewing system outage resolutions, documenting outcomes, and identifying issues related to configuration management or failed changes.
