The Junior Estimator provides the critical data and technical analysis needed to fuel our Installation Sales Division. In this role, you will focus on high-volume, accurate desk-based estimating, transforming complex landscape plans into actionable bids. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative office environment and enjoys the "puzzle" of project quantification and cost analysis. This position is required in office, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in estimating, preferably within the landscape, irrigation, or construction trades.
  • Degree in Construction Management, Landscape Contracting, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with digital take-off software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) is preferred, not required.
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize landscape management software for estimating and job costing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across different departments and levels of the organization.
  • Understanding landscape installation sequences and Florida-specific materials is highly preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precise digital take-offs from landscape, irrigation, and hardscape plans using industry-standard software.
  • Calculate material totals, equipment needs, and labor hour requirements based on established production rates.
  • Build comprehensive bid folders that include all supporting documentation, vendor quotes, and specification notes.
  • Partner with Project Managers during the hand-off phase to ensure the "as-sold" budget is clearly understood and executable.
  • Communicate regularly with Superintendents to gather feedback on labor production and material yields to refine future estimating accuracy.
  • Assist the sales team in identifying cost-saving alternatives (value engineering) to help win competitive bids.
  • Maintain and update the regional price book for materials, ensuring all estimates reflect current market conditions in the Tampa area.
  • Solicit and organize subcontractor bids, ensuring they meet the specific scopes of work required for each project.
