About The Position

Primus Aerospace is currently seeking a Junior Buyer to join our team at our Maryland facility. Primus Aerospace is a leading manufacturing partner to aerospace, defense & space OEMs / Primes & Tier I suppliers. The company specializes in producing high-tolerance, complex geometry parts machined from standard and exotic metals. Primus supports major aerospace programs with companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman. Job Purpose: The Junior Buyer will support the procurement team in sourcing raw materials, hardware, and outside processing services in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn supply chain fundamentals, develop vendor relationships, and grow into a full Buyer role. You will work closely with senior team members and be trained on all aspects of purchasing, supplier communication, and production support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or graduating soon)
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • To adhere to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or prior exposure to manufacturing or supply chain is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in sending RFQs and gathering supplier quotes for materials and outside processing
  • Support purchase order creation and tracking to ensure on-time delivery to production
  • Monitor order status and communicate updates to internal teams
  • Help expedite materials and services when needed to support production schedules
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier commitments, pricing, and lead times
  • Assist in resolving supplier issues such as delays, documentation, or quality concerns
  • Support inventory and material planning activities using ERP/MRP systems
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
  • Learn cost analysis, negotiation basics, and supplier performance tracking
