About The Position

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant supports the finance department by performing key accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. This role requires strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the general ledger, including posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and supporting the month-end close process. The Junior Accountant also assists with preparation for year-end audits and ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. In addition, this position serves as a backup to the Accounts Payable function and is responsible for managing purchasing activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience with automated accounting systems required; familiarity with Sage Intacct is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-program, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial staff and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Non-profit financial administration experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and enter journal entries.
  • Perform general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, including bank statement reconciliations.
  • Review and approve accounts payable and cash disbursement transactions.
  • Assist with month-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and distribute periodic financial reports.
  • Support preparation for year-end audits, UFR submissions, and tax filings.
  • Interact professionally with auditors, banking personnel, and other external stakeholders.
  • Act as a backup for Accounts Payable.
  • Conduct financial analyses as needed.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and special assignments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
