Position Summary The Junior Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation. This role plays a key part in supervising line cooks, maintaining food safety standards, and executing service at the highest level.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of progressive culinary experience in an upscale or high-volume restaurant
  • Previous supervisory or lead line experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen operations
  • Ability to lead calmly and effectively during busy service periods
  • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Support daily kitchen operations, including prep, production, and service
  • Supervise and mentor line cooks to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, taste, and presentation
  • Assist with ordering, inventory management, and cost control
  • Ensure strict compliance with sanitation, safety, and HACCP standards
  • Step into a leadership role during service to ensure smooth execution
  • Contribute creative ideas for seasonal menus and specials
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment
