About The Position

The YMCA of South Florida is looking for Job Coaches for our S.T.E.P. Program, which provides support services to adults with developmental disabilities. Under the direction of the Case Manager, the Job Coach is responsible for the overall day-to-day implementation of program, assessments, direct supervision and management of STEP students to teach identified skills and goals. The Job Coach documents student progress, outcomes and provides the Case Manager with student data as needed. Essential Functions / Job Duties: Plans, supervises and implements activities for assigned group of students in accordance to both age and developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by the program contract, the YMCA of South Florida mission and YMCA Child Care Personnel Policies. Implements youth-centered curriculum, assures assistive technology/special considerations and supportive services are provided to students. Provides supportive job coaching and transition instruction to students in the areas of workplace, etiquette, personal hygiene, stress management, health and wellness, conflict resolution and goal-setting. Assists children with providing toileting needs, adaptive programming and provides an environment beneficial to enhance their individual growth needs and overall independence. Distributes nutritional snacks on a daily basis using universal health/sanitation practices. Preserves the quality of supplies, equipment and materials and ordering following procedures established. Performs regular inspections of areas used by the program to ensure both cleanliness and safety. Maintains close coordination with school personnel for safety and benefit of children in the program. Conducts a health check of students, noting fever, bumps, bruises, burns, or other questionable signs of abuse and documents the incident with the Case Manager. Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working with individuals with varying physical and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to relate to people; understand and practice YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • The Job Coach of the STEP work site/facility must be at least twenty-one (21) years-old at the time of hire.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificates by time of employment or within ninety (90) days from the date of hire. It is the responsibility of the Job Coach to maintain all necessary certifications set forth by either the CSC funding agency, State of Florida or the YMCA of South Florida.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in the field related to education, career development, or social services with a minimum 2 years’ experience in Special Education working with individuals with varying physical and developmental disabilities.
