About The Position

Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Dance Coach is pivotal in crafting and leading the dance program at our summer dance camp. Responsibilities include developing engaging dance activities, managing class dynamics, maintaining parent communication, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and the YMCA of South Florida's Risk Management policies. Essential Functions/ Job Duties: Design and implement age-appropriate dance activities and routines that cater to different skill levels and dance genres. Create detailed lesson plans focusing on dance techniques, expressions, and performances. Foster a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem, confidence, and positive social interactions among participants. Maintain regular and clear communication with program stakeholders regarding the dance program and children's progress. Collaborate with facility staff to ensure optimal use of the dance space and maintain a harmonious relationship. Ensure all dance equipment and facilities are safe and secure. Work closely with the Camp Director to maintain compliance with all YMCA standards and policies. Document daily behavioral issues and incidents and maintain proper staff-to-child ratios. Tailor the program to meet the individual needs of participants, considering their interests, abilities, and developmental needs. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills and Abilities/ Position Requirements: A high school diploma or GED Previous experience in dance instruction highly preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age A minimum of two (2) years' work experience with school aged children Ability to relate to both children and adults; understand, practice and model YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Must be able to Implement curriculums and provide instruction to participants at a basic level. Must excel in both written and verbal communication. Excellent Interpersonal skills, ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire. It is the Dance Coach's responsibility to complete and maintain all necessary certifications within the proper timeframe, as set forth by either the licensing agency, the State of Florida, as set forth by either the licensing agency, or the YMCA of South Florida.
