About The Position

Our client is a financial institution providing the United States with a safe, flexible, and stable monetary system. They are seeking a Senior DevOps / Jira Platform Engineer to serve as the technical owner of Jira SaaS in a government cloud environment. This role is responsible for administering, configuring, and integrating Jira within an enterprise ecosystem, while supporting large-scale Agile enablement and tool consolidation initiatives. This role is onsite in Washington, DC, and, per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens and be able to pass the background check.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering or engineering Jira (SaaS or self-hosted).
  • Proven experience building custom integrations using REST APIs and scripting (Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and DevSecOps principles .
  • Experience with enterprise tool migrations to Jira.
  • Per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens and be able to pass the background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Atlassian ecosystem tools (e.g., Confluence, Bitbucket) preferred.
  • Experience operating in secure, compliance-driven environments (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, SOX) preferred.
  • Federal government experience and Atlassian certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and optimize Jira SaaS to support enterprise Agile delivery and project management needs.
  • Design and maintain workflows, issue types, automation rules, security schemes, and permissions aligned with governance standards.
  • Lead integrations between Jira and enterprise systems such as GitLab and ServiceNow using REST APIs, webhooks, scripting, and identity platforms (e.g., Okta).
  • Build and maintain secure, automated data flows to enable end-to-end traceability from planning through release.
  • Support enterprise migration and consolidation efforts from Azure DevOps and on-prem tools to Jira SaaS in government cloud.
  • Partner with Agile leadership to translate Agile frameworks into effective Jira configurations and reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and delivery teams on Jira best practices.
  • Monitor usage, licensing, performance, and integrations to ensure scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices.
