Our team is seeking a versatile Java Developer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Corporate Portfolio clients T4NG Consolidated Corporate Support Services (CCSS) Corporate and Regional Matrixed Budget System (CRMBS) program which manages fiscal, human resource and construction financial accounting systems and reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java and Oracle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eight (8) years of professional experience; Five (5) years or more as a developer
  • Experience with Java, including JSF (JavaServer Faces) and PrimeFaces
  • Proficiency in: HTML5, CSS3, XHTML
  • Proficiency in: JavaScript (ES5+)
  • Proficiency in: TypeScript (4.x)
  • Proficiency in: jQuery (3.6+)
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, including: Writing queries and stored procedures
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, including: Creating tables and managing databases
  • Experience with the following tools/platforms: Git (version control)
  • Experience with the following tools/platforms: Linux environments
  • Experience with the following tools/platforms: Apache Web Server
  • Experience with the following tools/platforms: Oracle WebLogic Server
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to manage workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, implement, test, and troubleshoot bug-fixes. Responsibility for design and implementation of software enhancements for legacy Java application using the JSF framework, Primefaces.
  • Design, develop, and test new features in VA provided applications. Responsible for regular communication with colleagues involved in all development processes.
  • Create and update SQL queries for processing ad hoc database synchronization.
  • Provide defect modifications on real-time coordinated budget execution, data reporting and auditing for allocation and tracking of funds through the funding lifecycle and connecting procurement with budget and mission execution.
  • Provide guidance and best practices for successful Java development and/or modernization of legacy applications.
  • Perform XHTML code modifications for Section 508 compliance.
  • Maintain Oracle WebLogic Server with Apache HTTP server proxy for two-factor security in the cloud.
  • Contribute to Oracle database patching and Java server patching with DevOps
  • Actively participate in Oracle year-end process with users and provide ad hoc fixes
  • Determines user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop autonomous services, desktop applications, web applications, scripts, and utility programs.
  • Ensure software standards are met.
  • Use and apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Receive assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Contribute to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
