Department: Information Technology Under the general direction of the IT Infrastructure & Systems Manager, the IT Systems Supervisor is responsible for the management of Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and applications. This includes the management of assigned staff assigned to the systems team. The systems team is assigned a mix of system engineers, system administrators, and analysts based on business and project needs. The incumbent will coordinate and manage the activities and performance of staff members within the team focused on the implementation, support, and access of information technology. This position will manage staff and participate directly in maintaining IT applications and the holistic ownership of IT Systems. A positive attitude, collaborative teamwork, and promoting an environment of continuous learning and performance improvement are essential. Works to ensure a consistent approach is formulated and followed in support of organization and affiliated organization business goals. Oversees technical design and operations of applications. Aligns the practices of security and access management for managed applications to ensure policy and required standards are adopted and followed. Supervises assigned projects and initiatives. Supervises team readiness to respond to downtimes Maintains and negotiates service level agreements and monitors service level delivery to ensure agreed upon targets are met or exceeded. Develops and maintains positive relations with key operational and project stakeholders. Coordinate and integrate with Senior Management in determining needs of information systems, changes and improvements and provide direction and quality assurance for new systems from project inceptions through installation. Builds up the proficiency of their teams in both technologies and applications through education, training, and establishment of competencies as appropriate. Manage performance appraisals for staff of direct reports. Provides leadership and supervision regarding departmental performance by completing evaluations, maintaining staff competency and development, adequate staffing, and assures all work in specified areas is completed while maintaining a high level of quality employee engagement. Is a role model for departmental behavior, and provides and promotes a positive working environment for departmental staff to ensure strong employee morale, motivation and productivity. Supervises the day-to-day operations and workflow to ensure the department’s role and function in the Healthcare System supports the delivery of the highest possible standard of patient care, and customer service for staff and visitors within the available resources. Settles employee issues, counsels employees and administers appropriate disciplinary action as needed. Responds and follows up regarding staff concerns in a timely manner. Balances workload demands with appropriate staff scheduling, while working within departmental budget and productivity goals. Supports and facilitates staff involvement in programs and committees. Safeguard protected health information from any intentional or unintentional disclosure in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations. Integrates security requirements and best practices into SVMHS IT operations. Assists with procurement and contracting as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three (3) years’ technical experience managing infrastructure in a 24/7 clinical environment with working knowledge of the process and delivery of patient care services in an acute care facility and/or ambulatory office practice environment.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with microprocessor-based systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems analysis, design, build as well as Epic application implementation, troubleshooting, testing, and support experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the supporting activities in clinical services, ancillary departments, financial services, medical records, utilization review, quality assurance, the admitting/registration functions, and billing and coding requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of hospital clinical departments and physician office practice operating procedures and policies preferred.
  • Awareness of how, when, and to what extent different system users relate to and communicate with one another.
