About The Position

The Systems Administrator is pivotal in maintaining the operational integrity of our company's IT infrastructure. This role is dedicated to managing and ensuring the reliability and smooth functioning of our internal networks, servers, and cloud environments on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will specialize in the continuous operation of our IT environment, focusing on system health, performance monitoring, security, and routine maintenance while leveraging automation to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in systems administration, with a strong emphasis on operational management and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Proficient understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VPN, SD-WAN), server platforms (Windows Server, Linux), and virtualization technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V, or similar hypervisors).
  • Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID, and identity/access management concepts (SSO, MFA).
  • Experience with system monitoring tools, backup software, and patch management.
  • Adept at managing and configuring server hardware and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical guidance and instructions to team members and other departments.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on system reliability and performance.
  • Proactive approach to system management, with a willingness to take initiative in improving operational efficiency through automation and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with the latest technologies and best practices in systems administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Mobile Device Management implementation experience with Android, Apple, and Windows clients (Meraki SM, Intune, or similar) is a plus.
  • Previous experience managing and administering remote application virtualization technology (RemoteApp, Citrix, Parallels, RDS) is a plus.
  • Previous experience with EDR/MDR/SIEM platforms for security incident response and remediation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain operational health of all server systems and infrastructure, including daily system checks, server integrity, and system security across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Implement and oversee effective system monitoring and alerting practices to proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Manage system backups, ensuring data integrity and availability for disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Conduct regular patch management and updates to ensure system security and efficiency across all platforms.
  • Administer and maintain identity and access management systems (Active Directory, Entra ID, SSO/MFA), ensuring proper access controls and adherence to least-privilege principles.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline routine administrative tasks, reduce manual effort, and improve consistency.
  • Coordinate with the IT Infrastructure Manager to prioritize and manage maintenance schedules and downtime to minimize business impact.
  • Manage on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure and storage solutions, focusing on data organization, access control, cost optimization, and efficiency.
  • Support compliance efforts by maintaining system configurations and documentation aligned with relevant regulatory and organizational security standards (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, or other industry-specific requirements/frameworks).
  • Participate in incident response procedures, including root cause analysis, remediation, and post-incident documentation.
  • Document system configurations, updates, and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency in IT operations.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex issues not resolved by the Help Desk, providing deeper technical troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Team to support the deployment and integration of new technologies and systems within the existing infrastructure, including evaluation and testing.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical guidance within the IT department to improve overall team efficiency and problem-solving capabilities.
