About The Position

We are a full-scale electrical contracting company, providing preconstruction services through final- and post-project completion. For both new construction and renovation projects, we offer design-build/design-assist, value engineering, and CAD services, working with biotech, healthcare, commercial, transportation, and technology companies, as well as many government agencies. Job Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The System Administrator is responsible for supporting software and hardware utilized by Dynalectric Company on networks, clients, and servers including but not limited to: Configuring and maintaining the networked IT infrastructure, including hardware, system software, and applications. Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly with periodic testing. Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise. Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary. Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely. Researching and recommending new approaches to improve the networked computer system. Providing technical support when requested. Documenting any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system. Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures Provide support to security and helpdesk teams, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions at “Tier 3 level” Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Information systems or information technology.
  • Past experience administering server-side technology and networked computing systems.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database operations.
  • Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.
  • Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Patient and professional demeanor, with a can-do attitude.
  • 5+ years of system administration experience
  • 5+ years working knowledge of Virtualization/Cloud, VMWare, ESXi, vSphere, vCenter Required
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Implementing and deploying STIG-compliant Virtual Machines

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience is a plus
  • System administration and IT certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
  • Server Backups – (Cohesity a plus)
  • Help Desk Ticketing Software (ServiceNow a plus)
