Requirements

  • Qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a plus
  • Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.

  • Previous first-line support experience (beneficial but not essential)
  • Understanding of IT systems, troubleshooting, user support, internet security & data privacy principles
  • Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to staff, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues.
  • Respond to and manage support requests through the ticketing system, maintaining accurate documentation and regular updates.
  • Set up and configure new hardware, user accounts, and software installations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets and ensure proper upkeep.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on IT equipment, including cleaning, cable management, and hardware inspections.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Install and configure software and hardware components.
  • Apply regular software updates to keep systems secure and compliant.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively.
  • Train new users and assist with account setup.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and user guides.
  • Manage mobile devices, including redistribution and configuration of equipment.
  • Support printing infrastructure, including troubleshooting and managing consumables.
  • Track and manage IT consumables (e.g., cables) and reorder when stock is low.
  • Monitor system performance and address issues proactively.
  • Escalate unresolved problems to the line manager as required.
