About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated IT Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the technological systems of our company to ensure all employees have the proper working resources they need. Your duties includes hands-on troubleshooting, project leadership, and end-user support, ensuring reliable and secure IT operations in alignment with organizational standards and strategic goals. Must be able to travel between different locations as needed. You might be the right candidate if: You love technology and want to share that passion with others. You like to stay current in technology trends and news e.g., Microsoft updates, the latest software, changes in security standards, etc. Have the ability to travel to and work on site at the work at both Berkeley Heights YMCA and Summit YMCA branches

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Cyber Security, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support or engineering roles, preferably in multi-site or enterprise environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), networking, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace), virtualization, and remote support tools.
  • Proficiency with IT ticketing systems and remote monitoring/management tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive projects to completion.
  • Willingness to travel between locations as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and respond to critical situations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power BI or other analytics/reporting platforms is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Cisco CCNA, ITIL Foundation, Fortinet NSE) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and networking issues on desktops, laptops, servers, and network devices.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop, laptop, tablet, and peripheral equipment.
  • Lead deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including cloud services, virtualization, and security systems.
  • Monitor and analyze system/server performance, logs, and network health; conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in Microsoft 365 and other enterprise platforms.
  • Oversee hardware and software lifecycle management, including procurement, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance of IT assets with outside vendors as needed.
  • Maintain and optimize inventory management for all IT assets.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior IT staff, both onsite and remotely.
  • Respond to and follow up on technical service requests via phone, email, and walk-ups.
  • Develop and deliver technical training and system orientation for staff.
  • Assist with special events and general office projects as necessary.
  • Communicate frequently with end-users regarding the status of their issues and solutions.
  • Develop, update, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for IT processes and best practices.
  • Document incidents, resolutions, and system changes in the ticketing system, ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
  • Assist with hardware and software asset tracking, mapping, tagging, and inventory management.
  • Support and participate in IT projects such as system migrations, network upgrades, and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Participate in fundraising and philanthropy efforts as part of the organization’s mission.
  • Build strategic relationships with staff, volunteers, and members to support technology initiatives and organizational goals.
