About The Position

Hammond School seeks a qualified and professional IT Support Specialist. This full-time, exempt position is responsible for ensuring proper operation of the School's IT and AV equipment to support end users in achieving the School's mission. A successful candidate will possess extensive IT knowledge and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • College degree and/or 5 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with desktop operating systems including Windows 10, iOS, and macOS.
  • Broad understanding of application support.
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic tools.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport building, listening, and questioning.
  • Proficient in conducting research into a wide range of computing issues.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
  • Capable of presenting ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other equipment.
  • Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Installation of equipment in classrooms and multi-purpose venues.
  • After-hours work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and install all IT and AV equipment as requested and approved by the Director of IT and/or School Administration.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Assist faculty members with the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Help students with technology and device issues.
  • Assist with adding new user accounts in Microsoft 365.
  • Create and maintain forms in DiamondMind.
  • Maintain streaming software and data archives of all streamed broadcasts.
  • Assist with configuration of the VoIP phone network.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the School.
  • Field, document, and prioritize incoming help desk requests via telephone and work orders in a courteous manner.
  • Escalate problems to the Director of IT when necessary.
  • Build rapport and elicit detailed problem information from users.
  • Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, as well as actions taken to achieve the final resolution.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Document resolutions, evaluate outcomes, and analyze trends to improve future performance.
  • Provide assistance in any area of need to support the mission of Hammond School.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
