Description Results Statement: The IT Support Specialist delivers measurable improvements in system reliability and employee productivity by resolving technical issues efficiently, reducing downtime, and maintaining stable IT infrastructure. Through proactive troubleshooting, user support, and software and system maintenance, this role supports uninterrupted business operations, strengthens cybersecurity practices, and enhances overall satisfaction with technology services across the organization. HVJ needs a committed IT Support Specialist who can work in tandem with our external IT Support to deliver consistent resolution of hardware, software, and network issues while supporting business continuity. Position Summary: The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing reliable, responsive technical support to HVJ employees across office, field, and remote environments. This role ensures the effective operation of hardware, software, and network systems that support daily business operations, engineering activities, and project delivery. The IT Support Specialist plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, maintaining system security, and delivering a positive end-user experience. Strategic Work: Provide timely technical support to employees for hardware, software, network, and access-related issues across office and field locations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laptops, mobile devices, printers, VPN access, email, and core business applications. Support engineering and technical teams with software tools and systems essential to project execution including implementation if necessary. Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including device preparation, system access provisioning, and equipment recovery. Monitor, maintain, and recommend IT system updates and devices to ensure reliability, performance, and security compliance. Document support requests, resolutions, and standard procedures to maintain accurate records and support knowledge sharing. Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining ownership and follow-through. Support IT audits, compliance requirements, and internal controls through accurate documentation and access management. Collaborate with IT leadership, HR, and operations to support system changes, technology upgrades, and business growth initiatives. Promote cybersecurity best practices and assist in maintaining data protection standards across the organization. Support cloud-based data management and infrastructure

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in an IT support role
  • Microsoft 360 experience required
  • Microsoft phone system experience required
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network systems
  • Experience supporting engineering, construction, or project-based environments.
  • Familiarity with remote support tools, asset tracking, and IT ticketing systems.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity and compliance initiatives.
  • Primarily office-based with occasional support for field locations or remote users.
  • High attention to detail, organization, and documentation.
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment (up to approximately 25 lbs).
  • May require occasional travel to field sites or other office locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or comparable credentials preferred
