About The Position

The IT Specialist I – Service Desk plays a key role in maintaining, supporting, and improving Plaskolite’s information technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing user support requests, ensuring network connectivity, and implementing IT solutions aligned with company goals. The IT Specialist I collaborates across departments to ensure secure, efficient, and scalable systems that support both operational excellence and global team connectivity. Key responsibilities include system maintenance, helpdesk support, IT asset management, and participation in ongoing digital transformation initiatives. A successful candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to service excellence in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality—reflecting Plaskolite’s core values of Integrity and Improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent training/work experience
  • 1-2 Years of experience required
  • Windows operating system familiarity & MS Office Suite experience
  • Experience in technical support or help desk roles requiring client support
  • Basic understanding of computer networking, cables, and security
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to travel to other local sites as needed
  • Ability to cover weekends and after hours on a rotational basis

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with manufacturing-based systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer service skills via telephone calls, messaging, and emails
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for local and remote users across multiple facilities.
  • Set up and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in the maintenance and user support of ERP systems (e.g., JDE), Microsoft 365, and other business-critical software tools.
  • Proactively monitor network and system health, applying patches and updates to reduce risk and support cybersecurity protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of configurations, support tickets, and system changes to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Partner with External vendors, internal manufacturing, sales, and support departments to align technology solutions with business needs and efficiency goals.
  • Participate in the implementation of new technologies, including hardware refreshes, system upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Track and manage hardware, software licenses, and IT-related purchases in accordance with company policies.
  • Uphold data security protocols, privacy standards, and compliance requirements across all systems and user practices.
  • All other duties as assigned
