IT Operations Engineer An Operations Engineer is a professional responsible for overall operational health, efficiency, and reliability of the organization's systems and applications. This includes optimizing and maintaining the operational aspects of our systems and applications. You will work closely with IT teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both software development and IT operations, with a focus on enhancing overall system monitoring, reliability, and efficiency.

Requirements

Different levels of pay are assigned by the hiring department depending on experience/education/skills and business needs.
  • Early Career Professional (Level 53): Bachelor's degree or 4 years of a combination of education and IT experience.
  • Professional (Level 54T): Bachelor's degree and 2 years of IT experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Senior Professional (Level 55T): Bachelor's degree and 5 years of IT experience required, or master's degree and 3 years of IT experience.
  • All Staff positions require a resume.
  • Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.

Responsibilities

  • Production support
  • Product support for our operations systems, including Dynatrace, ServiceNow, and other Operations-supportive systems.
  • Ad-hoc reporting: Monitor the system that monitors performance and implements proactive measures to assist other IT teams in the high availability and performance of their systems.
  • Business partner System Monitoring consultation - You will meet with teams to offer monitoring consultation to improve the expanse, accuracy and necessity of monitoring their systems.
  • Engineering Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues driven by operation center needs and participate in the on-call rotation
  • Create limited bash, or PowerShell scripts.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for timely issue identification to support our 24x7 operations center.
  • Identify performance issues and troubleshoot or escalate.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document operational procedures and best practices.
  • System integration with systems managed by other IT teams to streamline operational support to the organization
  • System testing
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Technical research and professional development
  • Maintain and increase expertise through conferences and training sessions.
  • Study system documentation
  • Keep current on industry trends, technology changes, and innovation: study technical journals, periodicals, and other documentation.
  • Supervision, collaboration, and leadership
  • Will supervise students and student-led teams.
