Position Summary: The IT Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day clinic IT operations while partnering with leadership to ensure technology reliably supports patient care, clinical workflows, and business operations. This role blends hands-on technical expertise (servers/applications, networks, endpoints, security) with strong leadership, communication, and service-management skills. The IT Manager supervises internal staff and vendors, drives continuous improvement, and develops team members to further their career. The IT Manager helps ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and security requirements (e.g., HIPAA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 5+ years in IT operations or systems administration, including at least 3 years in management and leadership role.
  • Network administration experience required.
  • Trained in providing hardware/software support for Microsoft products.
  • Experience supporting a regulated environment and handling sensitive data; familiarity with HIPAA privacy/security expectations.
  • Proven ability to manage vendors, budgets, and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own IT service delivery, including incident response, request fulfillment, problem management, and change control.
  • Ensure high availability for critical systems (EHR/PM systems, clinical devices, phones, internet, Wi-Fi, printing/scanning, lab interfaces).
  • Continually improve the help desk function with defined SLAs, ticketing, prioritization, escalation, and after-hours/on-call coverage.
  • Use automation wherever possible in concert with the clinic’s tolerance for automation.
  • Manage vendor relationships for EHR, internet/telecom, MSPs, device vendors, and cloud/SaaS providers.
  • Implement and maintain security controls aligned with HIPAA.
  • Maintain an accurate asset inventory (hardware/software), lifecycle replacement plan, and standard builds/images.
  • Own the IT budget, purchasing, renewals, and contract management; present ROI and risk-based justifications.
  • Drive a customer-service culture: calm under pressure, prioritizes patient-care impact, and resolves issues with urgency and professionalism.
