About The Position

Redwood Credit Union is seeking an IT Infrastructure Manager, who will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and performance of the RCU compute and network environments. This includes leading an infrastructure engineering team responsible for highly technical work across all aspects of the RCU IT infrastructure, including administration of the network management, cloud platforms, DevOps practices, infrastructure as code (IaC), compute virtualization technologies, Windows and Linux servers, storage, databases and Symitar core system. Drive automation and scalability through modern engineering practices while ensuring mission-critical systems remain secure, resilient, and operational 24/7.

Requirements

  • Certification or equivalent experience, knowledge and/skill in Cisco network and CheckPoint firewall management, VMWare management, Windows server administration, Netapp Storage administration, Linux administration, VoIP administration and / or Symitar administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practiced infrastructure protocols, terminology, and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of infrastructure troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Thorough knowledge of PC and server hardware and software.
  • Current knowledge of processes, procedures, rules, and regulations pertaining to information technology.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and/or direction.
  • Ability to develop and implement technology projects.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with outside vendors and internal clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to travel to offsite corporate locations and branch offices as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field and a minimum of eight years of experience maintaining and administering a modern IT environment.
  • Prior management experience is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for the development, management and security of the server and network environment at RCU.
  • Ensure 24-hour support for all mission critical systems and infrastructure.
  • Lead the incident response team and establish procedures and controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of RCU systems and data.
  • Facilitate relationship with vendors to schedule repair and maintain enterprise application system hardware.
  • Prioritize technical issues and communicate resolution times as needed.
  • Supervise staff: Promote team member contributions and job satisfaction by providing development opportunities, a cooperative working environment, and strong working relationships.
  • Ensure effective disaster recovery and business continuity of enterprise applications and host systems.
  • Design, maintain and administer the technology infrastructure deployed to support The Redwood Group, including network, server, virtualization, storage, database, and telecom systems.
  • Develop procedures and processes to oversee and maintain the RCU infrastructure, SAN/NAS storage systems, servers, and databases of the organization.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting tools to provide real-time feedback on the security, performance, and availability of RCU systems and networks.
  • Automate the tasks necessary for managing RCU infrastructure, such as administration tasks, monitoring, testing, deployments, etc.
  • Provide feedback on possible budgetary outlays and maintain operations within budget.
  • Contribute to key departmental and corporate strategic initiatives and make recommendations to the IT Business Plan.
  • Create, maintain, and validate disaster recovery processes for all systems and network equipment. Ensure adequate recovery time and point objectives are achievable.
  • Support the teams in troubleshooting testing and debugging PC, server, network, and printer configurations.
  • Ensure full operability of Network, Server and PC’s, hardware, and software for the Credit Union.
  • Document and resolve both end user and network related problems.
  • Prioritize problem resolution and daily schedule as work dictates.
  • Formulate and ensure adherence to quality assurance standards, internal to the department and external to end-users.
  • Formulate and contribute to effective planning that improves performance and reliability of the network systems.
  • Develop and maintain user guides, network diagrams, procedures, and business continuity information department.
  • Oversee resource planning and scheduling to ensure consistent coverage and effective off-hours support for IT infrastructure services.
  • Diagnose, repair, and report to management system issues, security incidents, and other IT events.
  • Develop strong working relations with third party vendors to assist in maintaining equipment and resolving related problems.
  • Uphold established department service standards.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar to automate provisioning and configuration of infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline application and infrastructure deployments across environments.
  • Integrate monitoring, logging, and alerting into DevOps workflows to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enable continuous delivery and improve release cycles through automation and orchestration.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native practices and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable and resilient infrastructure.
  • Establish and enforce version control and configuration management standards for infrastructure and deployment scripts.
  • Prepare and present recommendations and updates on projects, support, and future needs planning both in writing and verbally.
  • Provide mentorship to the infrastructure and support desk staff.
  • Lead the organization in networking projects.
  • Locate and choose new learning opportunities to enhance and further knowledge of department practices.
  • Recommend vendors and equipment based on research and current documentation.
  • Research new technologies relating to core business functions.
  • Draft and recommend technology plans and requirements for business needs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key contacts in the community including volunteer centers and non-profit organizations; participate in community events.
